Echoes of a Dream - A Crag Rat’s Tale is the autobiography of Alan ‘Richard’ McHardy, one of the most respected and leading climbers of his generation.
Richard’s journey takes him from initial early forays in the 1950s on the local gritstone outcrops of the Peak and the formation of the Alpha Club, to new routing and high standard soloing in the Lakes and North Wales, and adventures in the Alps and beyond. Along the way we get to meet many well-known (some might say infamous) characters from the period. Former BMC Vice President and regular climbing partner of Richard describes the book as “an honest, humorous and amazing account of this remarkable man’s life.”
