Hikers affectionately refer to Brian Patton and Bart Robinson's Canadian Rockies Trail Guide as 'the bible'. When it was published in 1971 it was the first guidebook with accurate distances and detailed descriptions to the trails of the five national parks of the Canadian Rockies - Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, Yoho and Waternay Lakes.
Several major revisions followed, including expanded coverage that included accessible provincial parks such as Mount Robson, Assiniboine, Peter Lougheed, Elk Lakes and Akamina-Kishinena. Now in its 8th edition, the Canadian Rockies Trail Guides has evolved into the most comprehensive and well-known guidebook to hiking in the region. Over 230,000 copies are in print. Features include: *descriptions of 229 trails plus dozens of side trips and routes *more than 150 photographs *40 maps *detailed trail logs *contacts for park information, books and maps, backcountry accommodations and transportation services.
